Caparo Middle East, a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial and electrical products, today inaugurated its first investment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a fully integrated and state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Dammam, Al Khobar region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The manufacturing plant is a joint venture, Caparo Tablasa Arabia Factory Company Limited, between Caparo Middle East and Eng. Sinan Ali Ahmed Bokmasin, a well-known Saudi investor, developed with an investment of 25 million Saudi Riyals. The joint venture is also expected to create around one hundred jobs, forty of which have already been filled.
Caparo Middle East specializes in electrical metal conduits and fittings that comply with American Standard Assurance Laboratory standards. The factory is located in the Second Industrial City, Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on an area of 30,000 square feet, and was built on a plot of 50,000 square feet to meet the growing demand for these products in the Middle East and Africa regions. When fully operational, the factory will produce approximately half a million electrical conduits and related fittings per month.
The electrical conduit products market size was valued at USD 10 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach over USD 19.9 billion by 2032, driven by growing concerns regarding power supply failures, fire hazards, health risks and operational safety, according to Global Market Insight. Of this, the metal electrical conduit market size was estimated at around USD 3.1 billion in 2023 and is expected to
To reach over US$5.6 billion by 2032 driven by growing concerns around electrical supply issues, fire risks, health hazards and operational safety.
Caparo Middle East currently distributes these products by importing them from factories in managed facilities in China and India. The new manufacturing facility in Dammam will help reduce imports and help Saudi Arabia become self-sufficient and a source of industrial and electrical metal pipes and fittings.
This is the first step for Caparo Middle East in Saudi Arabia. This expansion will contribute to supporting the Saudi economy and increase the chances of pumping more investments by Caparo Middle East in the future. The new factory will help Caparo Middle East increase its revenues by manufacturing in Saudi Arabia instead of importing products, which will not only increase its market share in Saudi Arabia, but also in the GCC, Middle East and Africa.
Caparo Middle East is part of the global Caparo Association founded by the Honourable Lord Suraj Paul PC, a global name in business leadership. Commenting on today’s opening, Lord Paul said:
“This new industrial project reflects Caparo’s long-term commitment to the Saudi economy as it evolves and diversifies into a major global economic powerhouse. We are very pleased and proud to be able to open this investment at this time.
“This manufacturing plant will play a vital role in not only eliminating imports of industrial and electrical metal pipes and fittings that comply with US SAL standards, but will also help Saudi Arabia export these products to the GCC, Middle East and African markets. In this way, we are also in line with the economic diversification plan under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
“In line with the Saudi government’s vision to encourage foreign direct investment in manufacturing and the industrial sector, we also support the localization campaign by creating jobs, paying taxes and fees, generating exports and reducing dependence on imports.”
The Caparo Group of associated companies is headquartered in London, UK, and operates worldwide, principally in manufacturing, distribution and sales in over forty locations. The Honourable Lord Suraj Paul PC was a philanthropist and financially assisted many through the Aruna and Ambika Paul Foundation. His daughter, the Honourable Angela Paul, heads the Middle East business.
“With the opening of our joint manufacturing facility, we will become a dominant force to be reckoned with in the region,” commented Angeli Paul, Managing Director of Caparo Middle East. “In line with the Saudi government’s vision, we will work to promote local manufacturing and local human talent, and we look forward to increasing Caparo’s business presence in Saudi Arabia.”
Caparo Middle East operates independently from Dubai and has been serving the GCC market since 2005. Caparo Middle East’s product lines consist of electrical conduits, fittings and cable connectors under its Caparo and Simplex Cables brands, and Caparo Energy industrial batteries. This is the first venture in Saudi Arabia with investment in manufacturing.
Lord Paul and the Honourable Anjali Paul congratulate the Caparo Middle East team, comprising Sonu S Thakur, Hassan Raza, Kifayat Parker, Joyson, Bala, Suraj, Swami, George and Renee, on their efforts in expanding into the Middle East.
