The media delegation and tourism and travel companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia successfully concluded a strategic promotional visit to Ethiopia, which was organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Riyadh in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Ethiopian Airlines. During the visit, the delegation met with a number of senior officials and visited the most prominent tourist, archaeological and natural sites in various cities of Ethiopia with the aim of strengthening tourism cooperation and increasing inbound tourism from the Saudi and Gulf market.
The visit focused on promoting Ethiopia’s tourism potential, cultural heritage and hospitality offerings. The visit aimed to promote new Ethiopian tourist destinations, and highlight the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage in order to increase visitor numbers and enhance bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.
The Saudi delegation’s tour in Addis Ababa included a visit to Entoto Park and the Shiro Meda market, which specializes in traditional clothing, as well as participation in a bilateral business forum that brought together companies and travel agencies from both sides.
In the city of Bishoftu, the delegation visited a number of modern resorts, including the Corifto resort, in addition to the area’s distinctive natural scenery.
The delegation also visited the historic city of Harar, where the tour included the Jigol Gate and the ancient mosques, as well as watching the famous hyena feeding show.
In Dire Dawa, the delegation visited the historic railway station, Hamudi Mosque, and Dire Dawa Palace. The visit contributed to strengthening direct communication between travel agencies in both countries, which supports increased tourist flow and mutual economic benefits.
The Saudi delegation also had the opportunity to experience firsthand the true image of Ethiopia, characterized by peace and hospitality, in a friendly atmosphere that reflected the deep human ties between the two peoples. The delegation members expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome they received during the visit, wishing Ethiopia continued peace and prosperity, and commending the genuine affection and cooperation they encountered from the Ethiopian people.
