Jeddah: Dhaif Allah Al-Mutawa
The 20th Turkish aid ship arrived at the Egyptian port of El Arish today, January 25, carrying about 1,400 tons of humanitarian aid intended to support the Gaza Strip, as part of Turkey’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering faced by the Palestinian people.
The shipment includes various aid items prepared by the Turkish Red Crescent, including food, hygiene supplies, clothing, shelter supplies, and children’s needs. It is being delivered to the Egyptian Red Crescent in preparation for its transfer to Gaza via the port of El Arish, as part of a joint humanitarian cooperation mechanism between the Egyptian and Turkish sides.
In a statement during his reception of the ship in El Arish, the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Saleh Mutlu Sen, expressed his welcome for the arrival of the twentieth aid ship, stressing that it comes to meet the needs of the affected civilians in Gaza, and reflects Türkiye’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in light of the difficult circumstances they are going through.
Ambassador Shen noted his expectation that the pace of Turkish humanitarian aid shipments would increase in the coming period, especially with the approach of Ramadan, expressing his confidence in the continued generosity of the Turkish people through donations and contributions made by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the Turkish Red Crescent, and a number of charitable institutions and associations.
The Turkish ambassador stressed his hope for the reopening of the Rafah border crossing as soon as possible, emphasizing that opening the crossing would accelerate the pace of relief work, especially in the health sector, and enhance the effectiveness of joint humanitarian efforts with the Egyptian side.
Turkish Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen stated: “Turkey will continue to stand by the Palestinian people in Gaza with all its humanitarian capabilities, and we highly value Egypt’s sincere cooperation in facilitating the delivery of aid. We believe that international solidarity and joint action are the way to alleviate the suffering of innocent people, and we look forward to accelerating relief efforts and supporting stability and peace in the region.”
Shen also expressed his hope that the Gaza residents currently in Egypt would be able to return to their homeland safely, with dignity, and as soon as possible, thanking the Egyptian authorities, especially the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and the North Sinai Governorate, for their cooperation and continued support for humanitarian relief efforts.
