In the presence of the King’s Advisor and the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Casablanca is hosting today the ninth session of the African Forum, the most important health event on the continent, with broad international participation from 20 countries, in addition to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the guest of honor of the session, along with 150 speakers, making this event one of the largest health events on the continent.
The new edition of the international health exhibition “Morocco Medical Expo” and the Africa Global Health Forum “FAGS” will be held from May 15 to 18, 2025, at the ICEC International Exhibition Center in Ain Sebaa, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI.
This major health event is being held under the theme “Prevention and Resilience: Building a Sustainable Health System,” in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation.
Imad Benjelloun, CEO of Atoli Vita, the exhibition organizer, said that this edition is being held for the first time at the new ICEC Center, which boasts a strategic location and world-class facilities. He expressed his hope that this new space will help attract more visitors and exhibitors from Morocco and abroad.
Benjelloun pointed out that this year’s scientific program reflects the exhibition’s commitment to keeping pace with national health reforms and supports the royal vision to expand social protection and advance the health sector in general.
Benjelloun emphasized that this session comes within the context of implementing the government’s new strategy to reform the health system and enhance the effectiveness of medical services, within the framework of the major royal project for social protection. It is expected to provide an opportunity to establish the Moroccan experience as an African model for health reform and development.
Imad Benjelloun said that this important event is being attended by more than 150 senior decision-makers in the health sector, including deans of faculties of medicine and pharmacy, directors of university hospitals, heads of scientific associations, and official international delegations, reinforcing its continental and international character.
The exhibition is expected to receive more than 10,000 professional visitors and 135 exhibitors representing various specialties, including general medicine, medical specialties, biology, radiology, pharmacy, and allied health professions.
Participating countries include China, the United States, France, India, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Pakistan, along with key players in Morocco’s healthcare sector, particularly in the fields of medical equipment, pharmaceutical manufacturing, nutritional supplements, and modern healthcare technologies.
The exhibition will be a central event during this edition, thanks to its rich scientific programme, which includes 20 sessions, seminars and workshops, with the participation of 150 lecturers from Morocco and around the world.
The forum is expected to discuss priority issues in Africa, particularly the challenges of digital healthcare transformation, medical education, and research into artificial intelligence in medicine.
Dr. Moulay Said Afif, President of the Moroccan Society of Medical Sciences and President of this year’s edition, emphasized that the exhibition represents a strategic platform for highlighting Morocco’s efforts to strengthen its healthcare system and enhance African cooperation in the fields of health prevention, innovation, and scientific research, in line with the vision of King Mohammed VI.
Dr. Afif highlighted the importance of the presence of the deans of the faculties of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, emphasizing the priority given to basic and ongoing training in improving the quality of healthcare. He noted that limiting the emigration of physicians, estimated at approximately 600 annually, remains a challenge that all parties are working to overcome.
This exhibition is highly anticipated by specialists and professionals in the fields of medicine, health sciences, and the pharmaceutical industry, as it provides a rich platform for exchanging expertise and keeping up with the latest developments in scientific research and innovation in the healthcare sector.
Scientific events and specialized workshops have been scheduled, with the participation of a select group of professors and experts from both Morocco and abroad. This session is distinguished by honoring the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the guest of honor, as part of the consolidation of South-South African cooperation. A high-level delegation of 14 health officials will participate, an initiative that reflects Morocco’s drive to strengthen partnerships in the fields of health, scientific research, and medical training across the African continent.
In the same vein, the current session will host the first international conference on digital transformation and artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector, under the supervision of Professor Hicham El Madroumi, a researcher at Hassan II University and Director General of the Engineering School “SupTech Health,” reflecting Morocco’s accelerating dynamism in the field of medical digitization.
