The Republic of Ethiopia continues to consolidate its presence as one of the most prominent emerging African destinations on the global tourism map, through the launch of an ambitious strategy to develop ecotourism, in parallel with the implementation of a qualitative project to establish the largest international airport in the African continent, in a step that reflects an integrated vision that combines sustainability and economic modernization.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Tourism in Ethiopia is promising and growing, with the country experiencing a tourism boom thanks to its rich cultural and historical diversity, stunning natural landscapes, and significant improvements in infrastructure. Ethiopia offers\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

His Excellency Dr. Andigna Abebe, State Minister of Tourism\u00a0<\/span>of Ethiopia,<\/span><\/em>\u00a0said \u00a0that his country is implementing a comprehensive national program led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, aimed at reshaping the tourism sector and enhancing its global competitiveness, noting that these efforts include the rehabilitation of cities, foremost among them the capital Addis Ababa, in addition to the development of more than 70 cities throughout the country, which contributes to creating a modern and integrated tourism system.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In an exclusive statement to Gulf Tourism, he explained that the Ethiopian government is focusing particularly on ecotourism, one of the fastest-growing sectors globally. Eco-friendly resorts and sustainable tourism projects are being developed in unique natural locations such as the Simien Mountains, the Omo Valley, and the Great Lakes of the Rift Valley, which are considered unique natural and cultural treasures and among the richest in biodiversity in Africa. The country is also working to protect these resources through environmental legislation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ethiopian State Minister added that Ethiopia has a rich civilizational and cultural heritage that extends back thousands of years, including prominent historical sites such as the rock churches of Lalibela and the city of Axum, in addition to unique cultural and religious festivals such as the vibrant religious festivals of \u201cMeskel\u201d and \u201cTimkat\u201d, which attract thousands of visitors annually, enriching the tourist experience and giving it a distinctive human and cultural dimension.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In a related context, the Minister of State indicated that the government is working to improve the tourism investment environment through competitive incentives that include tax facilities and simplification of procedures, in addition to developing the infrastructure of roads, hotels and service facilities, with a focus on enhancing air connectivity, especially with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arab states, which represent an important strategic partner in supporting travel and tourism.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
